Haunted Halloween!

Have you seen the Haunted Forest SVG Kit yet, it's so adorable. You can find it at svgcuts. So far I have made the haunted house and just love the way it turned out.  I made 3 of them at one time, the cutting  took the longest but I did have both machines running.  I used my Silhouette and Cricut Explore.  I had fun embellishing it with mini pumpkins, skulls and ghosts.  Can you see the ghosts coming out of the chimney, so cute. I gave one to my daughter in law and my younger son's girlfriend (she's like a daughter in law).  I first asked them which one they liked(separately) and of course they both liked the same one, haha.  So when I completed them I let them make the decision of which to choose.  They Loved them.

Thanks-Using Cover Plate Negatives

Make It Monday #177: Using Cover Plate Negatives

I was inspired by this weeks Make It Monday Challenge # 177 over at PaperTrey Ink because I usually trash my negatives or put them aside to hopefully one day use them.  Laurie Willison shows a great tip on an easy way of placing your negatives on your card for your background.  You can see it here.

Happy Birthday with a Zoom!!!

I used my Cricut Explore for the First time and I have to say that I am very impressed.  I have never had much luck with cutting very small pieces, and usually end up not using them or getting frustrated.  But, do you see how small those stars are on the Windshield.  The Explore had no problems at all cutting them out and they even look like....well, stars.

Water Color for Cardmakers Day 2 & 3

It's your Day

I wasn't sure about day 2 and if I was able to make something as nice as the girls showed us today.  I gave it a shot and here is my card for today.  This is one of two cards I attempted, the other was not worth showing.  It came out ok, I could have done a few things differently.
I inked my block and placed it on my watercolor paper.  when I lifted it up it did leave a pool of color that I just cleaned up with a paper towel.  I stamped the outline of the larger flower with a Salty Ocean distress ink but didn't like how that came out when I tried to watercolor it.  I will be doing this card again, but without the blue outline.

Water Colors for Cardmakers 2014

I decided to take the Water Colors for Cardmakers class this time around since it seems to be the big thing right now.  I do not paint or watercolor so I was a little worried that my cards would not come out so nice.  I already have a few distress ink pads and markers but ended up purchasing watercolor paints and paper.  So glad I decided to try it out.  After the first two classes I got to work and found that this is so easy, and if you mess up in watercolors no one would ever notice.

This was the first card I made, well maybe second, I messed up the first one.  But I really do like the way it turned out.  I used a stamp block and placed my ink on the top portion of the block and sprayed it was a mist of water then laid it down on the watercolor paper and let the paper soak up the color.  I did the same with the rest of the colors down the page turning the last one so I could get the rounded corner on both ends.

Supplies

Distress Ink-Picked Raspberry, Dusty Concord,Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers
Simon Says Stamps-Big Hello die
Wink of Stella over the hello
Recollections-Card base
My Craft Spot-Sequins

Not too sure I like the way this card came out, but it works and perfect for a Guy Card.  I put down watercolor on the top portion of the card and laid a stencil over top while it was still wet.  I had to tape it down to my surface to keep it down and still until my paper dried.  I walked away and came back later to see the results.

Supplies

Koi Water Colors
My Creative Time-Stitched Round Tab Arrow & Tag Dies
Heidi Swapp Spray Stencil
Simon Says Stamps-You stamp set
Recollections-Card base
 Twine

On this card I used Embossing powder to get the resist effect.  My white embossing powder it a bit old and I think this card would have come out much better if my powder was newer.

Supplies

Sizzix Hero Arts-Flourish Cling Rubber Stamp
White Embossing Powder
Koi Watercolors
Simon Says Stamps-Happy Die and Stamp Set
Recollections-Card base

These are my favorite and love the way they turned out.  I will definitely be using this technique often.  I used Elmer's Cement glue to mask off the stamps, then water colored over the masking. It worked perfect....

PaperTrey Ink: Kraft Cardstock
Recollections: Black Background
